Europe, here I come!

W00t! Last blog post for a while I think. Currently in the gate lounge waiting to board my flight to HK. Taking forever to type this because the keyboard is AWFUL and you have to press really hard to get it to register.

Anyways, just wanted to say, hope everyone takes care and I’m missing you all already. For those I promised to e-mail, be sure to check your inboxes… I’ll mail whenever I get the chance… or my urge to go on the ‘net becomes too much. Send me lots of mail :P Want to hear all about you guys as well.

Take care, and see you all in six weeks.
:D :D

Vlogathon 3: Recurring Guest Stars on Veronica Mars

One of the great things about the Veronica Mars is its huge roster of recurring guest characters. Seeing the same students, teachers, and towns people over and over again helps add a sense of realism and familiarity to the show. There have been a total of 87 guest characters who have appeared on the show two or more times. That averages out to almost two returning guest stars per episode!

1) Name three of your favorite recurring characters and tell us why you like them.
1. Cindy ‘Mac’ Mackenzie. In many ways, she matches Veronica’s smarts and to me, is a pretty good friend to Veronica. Being a bit of a geek myself, I love her techno-savviness and some of the quips she has. The episode where Mac and Veronica go to see Vincent and Veronica calls her “Q” and in turn gets dubbed “Bond” really made me laugh. I also loved the development of her character through Season 2 – she’s dealt with the bombshell that Veronica discovered quite well and she seemed quite happy with Cassidy. I also like ‘no questions asked’ way she has of dealing with Veronica’s requests, it’s an interesting friendship they have and I’m glad they can count on each other.

2. Van Clemmons. It’s a very amusing sort of interaction that Veronica has with Principal Clemmons and I enjoy his exasperation when dealing with her. I was rather impressed at the way he completely manipulated Veronica into discovering her mother’s past at Neptune High and for revealing who Trina’s father is (despite the continuity issues in that storyline). Considering the number of times Veronica’s pulled one over him, it was nice to see him get the better of her. Plus, as much as he may have trouble keeping her in line, he trusts her judgement and knows that he can count on her. I’m fairly sure we won’t be seeing anymore of him in the next season though.

It was pretty difficult to decide who to pick for the third character. A couple of people come to mind: Cassidy, Casey Gant, and Meg. Considering two of them are dead it doesn’t really bode well.

3. Casey Gant. I think we only saw Casey twice? Once when Veronica investigated the cult, and again in ‘A Trip To The Dentist’. For me, I found it interesting that Veronica was able to get along so well with him once he’d given up the money and decided to stay at the collective. He was really nice to her and I think as a viewer we get the impression that whilst the 09ers can be horrid, there is hope for some that they can see the more important things in life.

2) Name the one character that you would most like to see added to the main cast.
I’m not really fussed – I like having new characters on the show, and I think the nature of the stories told require that there will constantly be new people so it’s not a big deal. Keeps it interesting though, and ensures that I have to remember lots LOL.

Crikey!

Firstly, apologies to Billy for my accidentally deleting your comment when I was trying to get rid of spam. Thanks for the well wishes (:

I had a pretty busy weekend. Well, Saturday mainly. Managed to fit in lots of things, and was out pretty much from 9:30am to 1:00am the next morning. Had to get out early to train volunteers for Animania. That was pretty fun, and I’m going to miss the general madness that is Animania weekend. We went to karaoke afterwards, not at the usual place though. This one is slightly seedier and the videos are rather more eighties-like. It was lots of fun though. It’s always interesting to see what songs people pick and who knows them. It’s also fun to belt out such songs as “We Will Rock You”, and for the more adventurous “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Unfortunately, I think the only people capable of singing it are Queen themselves. Mae put on “American Pie”, I think both of us pretty much lost our voices singing that one. The thing with karaoke is that you never notice how much time has passed and you keep putting more songs on the list until there’s like 15 minutes to go and you have to cut each song halfway LOL. Still, as long as I get to sing “Lemon Tree” I’m not going to complain. Heh.

My (lack of) planning skills meant that we didn’t get a table at the Japanese restaurant in Hurstville. We did however, make our way down to this Chinese restaurant that I know is pretty good. I think by the time we arrived there, all 8 of us were starving, so it was good that they had fast service :D Admittedly, sitting underneath the air-con vent was rather chilly but once the crab came out we (or I) barely noticed it LOL. So yes, YEAY! for crab. I didn’t realise how expensive it was, but then, they cooked it up nicely and it had noodles and everything so it was worth it. The good thing about being real hungry is that you eat real quick so there’s enough time to fit in dessert as well. Brighton seems like it’d be a great place to have dinner during the summer when it’s warmer. But then, I said the same thing about Bondi. You gotta love the names they give cocktails – I picked a ‘love in the mouth’. Which was extremely sweet and pink. I always forget that cocktails tend to be really sweet -_- But that’s probably cos I don’t drink them often. It was great to see people before I go, and I had lots more fun than I’ve had in a while so I’m quite happy (: I was also quite amazed I didn’t get in trouble from my mum. I got home a little after 1:00am and all she said was “that was a long day” :o!!! Yeap, amazing huh.

Other than that, I spent Sunday cleaning my room. I’ve now chucked out like 5 trees worth of paper. Still got to find room for some of the stuff on my desk. When I get back, I may have to do proper cleaning where I chuck stuff out. But it’s sort of against my nature to throw things away. I’m a hoarder, and it seems wasteful to throw things out even if I know I’m not going to use them again. We’ll see. Hopefully I can clear up all the little knick-knacks tonight. I need to start properly packing for the trip or I really won’t get any sleep on Friday night.

Other than that, I’m guessing everyone’s heard about Steve Irwin. To be honest, I didn’t like his shows AT ALL. But I think he made a tremendous contribution to conservation of wildlife in Australia as well as the tourism industry. For that, I salute him and I hope he rests in peace.
