Wiki Ate My Soul…

And my time!
Goddamn. I love Google and I love Wiki, but sometimes, it’s just so hard to tear yourself away.

I went out to dinner on the weekend for Danny’s birthday, and during the course of the night we somehow ended up talking about the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’. Unfortunately, we couldn’t remember all seven (OMG how did we forget ‘greed’?) and so, naturally, I went to www.wikipedia.org to check it out. From there, I not only checked out the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’, but also the ‘Seven Heavenly Virtues’ and then a whole host of demons/mythological beasts, the Spear of Destiny, and the Skull & Bones secret society. I finally called it quits after reading about the ‘ziz’.

I was going to link all of those, but frankly I can’t be bothered. I think it’s much more interesting for you to type in one of those topics mentioned above and to see what grabs you. I think that’s probably where the procrastination comes in. You can literally jump from one topic to another and at the end you’re reading something quite unrelated. Admittedly, I don’t believe that wiki is the most reliable source. I think it’s a great starting point for research and can usually give you a fairly nice summary on whatever topic it is that you’re looking for. More than that, there’s usually a bunch of really helpful links down the bottom. Of course, how long the wiki is really depends on who’s contributed to it. Some of them are like essays.

And seeing as I have now wasted lots of time, I’d better go do that report of mine. *sigh*.

Say It If It’s Worth Saving Me

Uni’s not really as fun as it used to be. I’m not sure if that’s because most of my friends have graduated and there’s no one doing the subjects I am or I’m just sick of it. Admittedly, the subject I’m doing isn’t *as* bad as I thought it would be. I actually managed to complete the tutorial today. It was pretty hilarious though, my lab partner and I spent ages designing this schematic plan of some circuit thingy and then we thought we hadn’t drawn the wires correctly so we went back and make them all “connect”. Later the tutor was like, “they’re not meant to look like that… that little dot is a ‘join’”. *sigh*. So we had to change them all back! At least we know for next time right?

Met up with Manda for ‘lunch’. It wasn’t really lunch as such. Just a celebratory beer for St. Patrick’s day. There was green (mostly) and orange everywhere. Didn’t get to have any ‘guinness stew’ although it was the union meal of the day. Not sure if I really missed out on anything special :P

I tried installing Ubuntu onto Mephisto, which I screwed up. I forgot I’d removed small 10MB partition I’d made at the front of the HDD for the MBR. So I told GRUB to write over my XP install. LALALA. *Sigh*. I’m not exactly devastated, I wasn’t using that comp anyways, even after installing a DVD burner. Think I’ll install Fedora Core 4 instead. Except that I need to download the damn install. I could go with Fedora Core 3, but it seems a little ‘old’. I’m not having a good time with technology lately it seems. I tried to use that new MPH Game Loader on my PSP, which didn’t work. I then tried to install v2.0 firmware only to have the damn machine tell me it was ‘low on battery’ and ‘could not proceed’. What the fuck is with that? So yeah. The decision has been made. I’m going to upgrade the firmware. I’ve bought like 3 games recently and I have another two sitting there because I can’t play them. So it seems utterly pointless to keep with 1.5. Plus, I figure I can downgrade later if I really want to.

In any case, I’ve decided eBay is the devil in disguise and whilst retail therapy is good for the soul, it’s not good for the hip-pocket. I really must stop. It’s not like I have the time to play all these games or watch DVDs. ):

Anyways, back to trawling for icons/avatars. No kidding. I’m really hoping I’ll get the time to make some of my own.. some of them are utterly hilarious :D Not sure how to do the animated stuff. Might give the “Animation Shop” which comes with PaintShop Pro a go. I have no idea how to use Photoshop (anybody want to teach me? :P) *sigh*. Too much to do. Not enough time…..

Clearing out my phone’s memory

Ok, trying a few things.
Mainly this is a “photo post”. I’ve been wanting to get a bunch of photos off my phone for a while and since I had my laptop on, I was able to. The wonders of infra-red! Actually, I’m quite impressed with the infra-red thing, it’s not *that* slow, and for transferring the stuff off my mobile it’s pretty cool. I think I’m just chuffed that I make use of the infra-red port.

Light on!

Check out the before and after of my room (:

Behind-the-scene tinker.

Ok. So, having checked my site at work, I’ve come to realise this doesn’t work in IE. I have no idea why. It seems to be working fine in Firefox (although after tinkering with the css AND the HTML it’s still not displaying it in the center). I have NFI why the calendar is borking the entire page. So the warning is thus: DON’T USE IE! At least, until I’ve fixed this. *GRAH*!!!!!! So pissed now.

You and I we were one
And I swore I’d stay forever
But they say all good things come to an end – my friend
Now its time to move on
But don’t think that this is easy
‘Cos it’s hard to be leaving you behind
But you will be fine

Oh so if you believe
Say a prayer for me
I wont be here tomorrow
Somewhere I gotta be
Things you want to say
Save them for another day
Cause I can hear the angels calling
Angels callin’ for me

Does it help if I say
That I’m really truly sorry
And that I never meant for it to end – this way
There’s a place in your heart
Where you know you’ll always find me
And I’ll be wherever you are
Near or far

Oh so if you believe
Say a prayer for me
I wont be here tomorrow
Somewhere I gotta be
Things you want to say
Save them for another day
Cause I can hear the angels calling
Angels callin’ for me

But you and I, we were one
And I swore I’d stay forever
But they say all good things come to an end – my friend.

Rooster – Angels Calling

EDIT:
zOMFG!!!!!!!!!!! I had it pointing to the wrong .css file. *SLAPS HEAD*. SO bloody annoying. @%#!@#$%$!#%@!#%$^%#^$$% It seems to work in IE now. I shall change resolution and check too. FAR OUT!!!!~ This is what I hate about coding *sigh*

Jabberwocky!

Thanks to Alan for this:
http://quikwon.atomicfire.net/Orgo.pdf
I think I feel much better starting uni this semester (: and I really wish I could do this with some of my exams!

Other things to note:
It seems that bBlog picks up the timestamp from the server my blog sits on. Which runs American time. Which means that it’s not entirely accurate when it says 11 March 2006 cos it could have been 12 March 2006 where I am. This is slightly annoying. But hosting is cheaper overseas! ):

Anyways, must stop revelling in new-blog-ness and go to iron clothes for tomorrow.

Testing pictures

Ok,
So I’ve uploaded the pictures plugin, I’ve set up the files and the database table in MySQL. Now check out the goodness that are ICONS!

This one is pretty funny:
