hrm.. what to say.. what to say?
been kinda busy lately, but then not really. like i haven’t really been doing much but the last time i wrote here was a week ago!

so since then, what have i been up to? hrm.. work’s been pretty good. learning new stuff in ASP/VBScript/SQL which is cool, cos i haven’t done them before, and it’s all “ooh it works! it works!” or “what the hell did i do wrong now?” but that’s funky anyways, cos i’m *learning* stuff that’s interesting. much better than uni cos i can see the end result and i know it’s going towards something.

on friday i had a day off, and mike came over. that was pretty cool :D
he got me a christmas present… Limited Collector’s Edition STAR WARS Monopoly!!!!! i could’ve hit him, cos i know how expensive it is :P but it’s absolutely wonderful! we didn’t get to play a full game, cos we were s’posed to play tennis that night, but it RAINED (trust it to be the day i have off..) so we were going to go indoor rock-climbing with su and brendon. but driving down the hume highway past stratty i thought “let’s go see a movie!” so we ended up doing that instead. and i must say, brother bear was a damn good movie! i havent really seen much of the disney stuff lately (lilo and stitch!) and i kinda miss it. su and i decided that we were going to buy and watch every disney movie in order of release. until i went onto the ‘net and found out just how many movies they’ve released, so we’re sticking to the ‘disney classics’ of which there are 43 movies! you can find the list here. and after that (which will be like a few years i reckon HAHA!) i hope to get the “land before time” series of movies. they’re up to number 10!!!!

on sunday, we trekked up to north rocks computer markets.. which was pretty cool. i was looking for a hard disk drive, PC case, CD cases, CD burner and graphics card. i scored at Seagate Barracudda 120GB SATA HDD with 8MB cache for $180, which seemed pretty groovy to me. got a Liteon 52x burner, and a bunch of DVD cases. not enough money for graphics card.. and i ordered a case on the ‘net. you can see pictures here. so all in all that was a funkeh trip and i was happy with my purchases. now just gotta wait until saturday to put my comp together!

i decided i was going to collect the rest of the aboriginal design silver $1 kangaroo coins.. cos i have the 2003 one, and the 2002 and 2001 ones would complete the three. anyways, after having a look and being informed by su, i think i’ll collect the square $1 silver kookaburras. only two have been released so far, so the chances of being able to collect the LOT is pretty good (: i also won my bid on eBay for the Star Wars Data File. which i’m pretty chuffed about… will go with my ep1 one. i’ve realised i’m missing 4 bionicles too, so i have to get a move on and try and get them, before they disapppear ):

had amy’s 21st last night, which was pretty good.. smallish bash with ppl from uni.. and there was no shortage of food! she seemed to like the perfume boxed set that we got her, so that was heaps good too! i should’ve gone for a swim, haven’t been for ages… maybe i can do that this weekend, go to the beach or for a swim. we’ll see.

anyways, sherwin wants to play minesweeper flags (:

thought for the day: how ironic is it when the microsoft site crashes Internet Explorer?

mon, 12/01/04 – 11:07pm

so the weekend was pretty good. i met up with manda, and we went traipsing around the city (well, central, broadway, usyd) to every co-op bookshop in the vicinity of the city. so, at the last co-op we went to, i finally found a book that suited my needs. some outline on optics for physics, and only cost me $26.05. which i thought was a pretty good deal. well, not that it was discounted, but hey, it’s cheap compared to some of the textbooks i’ve bought. then we met up with su and mike… which was cool. i found a book on redhat linux 7.1 for $15, so i bought that as well. i’m waiting till i go to the computer markets and buy all the parts i need, then i’ll piece together my computers. my BEAST shall run XP, this current one will run XP, Debian, OS/2 Warp, and BeOS (and be nick-named schizo!), dad’s will run XP cos he can’t use anything else, and if i get a case… then mike’s can run Red Hat Linux 7.1! so it’s all sorted in my head, it’s just a matter of whether or not i have the funds to do it ): i guess i’m just impatient to get started and get it all done.. cos my parts are just sitting there taunting me!!!!

manda got me a filofax on saturday as well… which i’m REALLY excited about, cos it’ll help me be all organised and i won’t forget things now (: i hope. and i bought some shiny new calendars and address book thingies :D but they’re all so shiny and new i don’t want to write in it, which kinda defeats the purpose don’t you think?!

anyways, i best get going.. don’t feel too good (been very up and down lately for some reason…) and i’m on the phone to su.

so, work’s been pretty good. just doing websites mainly, hoping to be able to choose a ‘major’ project to complete myself before i finish, so i can learn heaps. which will also be pretty sweet for my report. it’s also been pretty bludgey, getting to know the guys.. playing “guess the band” with mp3s, looking at movie trailers and playing the SIMS. which of course means you’re now thinking we do no work and just bum around all day, but that’s not true at all!

anyways, new year’s resolution. sort of. besides saving money, i now have something to save for. a bass guitar kit. probably a fender squier (: with an amp and stuff. was recommended that, and might be able to get a decent one for about $350-$400. just really wanting to get into it, and learn, so i can play with the band. i’m all excited now :D

also looking for webhosting atm, and i can’t wait for that, cos then i can get this show on the road, and dabble with scripting and hopefully .NET, so i’m all excited. got so much to do and so much going on this holidays, i wonder if i’ll get any rest at all ): but i think that might be a good thing, if i can achieve all the things that i want to, i’ll have learnt heaps!

so atm, i’m trying to find a webhost for my new site. and there won’t be a new site until there is a webhost. which rather sucks, cos not many servers offer good stuff these days, especially if you want better features.. anyways, i found one where you have to make an application on a forum and they review your current site. i hope i get through ): looking for some blogging tools and things as well… so hopefully that goes well (: ooh, dinner.

tues, 06/01/04 – 7:25pm

started work experience again yesterday. which was really good. i think mainly cos i need to get out of the house, and i’m learning lots of new things, it’s been really great.

altho i’ve been feeling pretty down lately. mike and i kinda got in a fight, and i’m not sure how or why. altho i think a lot of it has been building up, and i’ve known, but there’s a lot of things that are hard to say simply because you know you can’t say them, cos they seem unfair or inconsiderate. i guess it doesn’t help that i’m completely drained, and i just want to sit in a corner and hide from the world. i’ve only really just started to notice how much my past has affected me. it’s like, everything from the past one and a half years has been building up, and i’ve been bottling it or something. but now, it’s like, the dam broke and it’s flowing out of control. which is kinda scary, cos i need to really think about what i’m doing before i do something that i regret. whereas if i just do what i feel, then i’ll do something stupid, and i was never really that sort. but now i am. and i’m finding that i’m now not the sort to keep trying to make things better, i just give up, like there’s no hope. that’s rather worrying. cos i mean, yeah i was always pessimistic, but not THAT pessimistic. it reminds me a lot of the beginning of last year, when i was really depressed and gave a lot of attitude. but this time i feel more flat. i’m hoping i snap out of it soon.

other than that, i’ve kinda got a mental list of what to do with my holidays besides work experience. i borrowed text book and notes off brendon to study 3603, and want to do that. i need to publish this blog/site, but first i need to find somewhere to host it. and then stuck into designing and coding it. i also have this urge to go to the library, borrow some books. i want to track down victor kelleher’s trilogy (parkland, earthsong, firedancer) and maybe purchase them. altho that’s expensive. i need to continue driving lessons and try and get my P’s as soon as possible. and then there’s all the people i need to meet up with. it’s going to be very busy, but fun too i hope.

anyways, i should go. song of the week: Deep Purple – “Hallelujah”. also, many thanks to su, i now have a name for my blog when i get it published.. “i should’ve known better”. possibly the greatest motto of my life.

Hallelujah

I am a preacher with a message for my people
Over the world, scratching on the ground
Looking for the peace that nobody has found

I am a spokesman for a better way of living
Love is the word and it can be heard
If you are young the message can be sung

Let me hear you sing, Hallelujah

Oh tell it to the man who’s power is the sermon on the wall
Tell it to the man who says you can misjudge them all
Tell it ’till it can be heard above the wailing of the crowd
Tell it on the field of war and hope you’ll soon be justified

There is a better way of life and it’s not so hard to find
If you live and let the people in your world speak its mind

I am the pupil who sells his life for freedom
All over the world and it can be heard
If you are young the message can be sung

Hallelujah
